That "painted over hole where the lock used to be" is simply a magnetic cover. Take another magnet or a small screwdriver and just pop it off.

Then proceed as usual....

BTW - '01 and newer C5's really did not have a passenger door key lock, only the '00 and earlier ones did.

To remove the key-hole cover, use a magnet covered by a soft cloth. This will avoid messing up the finish on the cover.

It iwll ALSO allow you to get the cover off the magnet......almost impossible magnet to magnet.

Good Luck

Not sure about that style cover. I made my own...sorta. I used the small round golf ball markers (for the green) and painted them to match the color of my car. Once you paint and let dry...just push the prong on the back into were the key goes. Its a very clean look for nothing as I golf (i chase the ball really) and had black paint on hand.

Wow...... I have an '04 and I never noticed that before. If someone had asked me, I would have swore I had one on the passenger door. And I can't count the number of times I've waxed that door.....

I learn something new almost daily on this forum.....

Sorry - I never knew that either. Always thought all C5s had a key hole on the passenger door.

Suggest you use a business card to pry-up the cover, you won't risk damage to your finish.
