I was on the GM website this evening, when I noticed that one of the local dealers had a QS Z06. Just for kicks, I requested a "best price". And here's the dealer's response. Please note that this vehicle is in California.
"Thank you for your recent GM BuyPower Internet inquiry. Due to the limited
availability, the dealer has added a Market Availability Adjustment of $7,500.00
to this vehicle. This makes the asking price, $58,340.00 plus tax, license,
federal luxury tax, and a $50.00 documentation fee. Your best price for this
vehicle is $56,340.00 plus tax, license, federal luxury tax and a $50.00
documentation fee. You must contact me to receive this special pricing program.
Please bring this paperwork with you when you visit the dealership."
Best regards.

P.S. when the time comes, I will definitely be buying out of state.
What a deal!!!!!!!! You better do what it says and bring the paperwork to recieve the "special pricing". I really don't understand why GM lets stuff like this happen. There is MSRP for a reason...and that reason is to make you feel special when you get your car below. The dealer i bought my car from gave me a discount. I was back there the other day and one of the salespeople rememberd me and told me they have a yellow Z on order but they dont think it will get made. They explained to me that they dont even charge over sticker for the yellow and all I had to say was why would you in the first place. This over sticker shizzz has to stop because it is getting really stupid. Who would pay almost 20% over sticker for their car? The people who do are the reason why it still happens today.
THE VETTE NET will be glad to find you a Z06 at well under MSRP when the time comes! We currently have a Red 2002 with less than 300 miles for around $46.5, and some good deals on brand new ones as well. Don't let these CA dealers throw this :bs at you - fight back!
If you're willing to take a 2001, I have one in SoCal for less than $40K - OK, not much less ($39990), but still a hell of a deal, given the market conditions out here! ;)
I don't know how California dealers sell any Corvettes, with the kinds of markups they add. There must be a lot of people with a lot of money and not much sense.
This is exactly why I bought my new car BEFORE I move out to California in May. Saved me $10,000 from what they're quoting you. Whatever you do, DO NOT give in to their BS, then you'll be one of those idiots who actually pays these prices, encouraging the dealers out there to charge them.
Work with the guys at the VETTENET. While I didn't end up buying from them, I was in contact with one of their reps and he was really easy to work with and the deal was very good. Good luck!

He should've stated; "You must contact me, so I can make a poopie load of money off you!"
