Default Harmonic Balancer Problems

Ok, so I know that there are problems with the Harmonic Balancer Bolt not staying tight despite the tremendous amount of torque... I also am aware of the rubber seal coming apart around the edge..

GM has replaced my Harmonic Balancer 3 times in the past 2 months...So this is clearly something that needs a solution...

What EXACTLY do I need to do?? GM says they'll pay for it because they installed the part.

How do I prevent this from happening again??!?! I want this Harmonic Balancer Bullsh*t to finally be fixed!

Thanks for your help, Sammy

3 balancers going bad in 2 months?! that is nuts. most last forever..there has to be a problem somewhere else. when the first one went, did it jack up the crank snout?

The harmonic balancer is an issue on all Corvettes, including the C6's. One permanent fix is to go with a billet balancer. We use ATI -

http://www.atiracing.com/products/dampers/index.htm

We have installed these on some pretty powerful cars, including a 660 rwhp C6 Z06 S/C and our Texas Mile car that went 199.8 mph - a TT Z06 (made 860 rwhp) with no problems.

Which one would be best suited for daily use? The "Street" one I assume...? And what size? 6" or 7"?

Since the LSx engines use a serpentine system, I would use the Serpentine model. They aren't especially inexpensive, but they are excellent quality - and you'll never have to do it again - even if you wind up modifying your engine or going to forced induction.

Pay once and you're done.

I don't understand that website... But I do understand that I need a Serpentine model.. Obviously.. I just don't know exactly which one to order. Also, how do I know that this will fix my problem??? Yes, the harmonic balancers are horribly designed. BUT, WHO THE HELL GOES THRU 3 HARMONIC BALANCERS in 2 MONTHS???????? There has to be something else causing this, don't you think????

before I go spending more money on this thing. I want to make sure that I am FIXING the REAL PROBLEM.

Could the problem be with the crank it self ? might be out of balance or something.
