Default Fast Intake Manifold Help

Hi All

Can someone please explain these fast intake Manifolds to me?
Excuse my ignorance but I'm not very technical and I've been seeing so many of them for sale on the forum that I'm wondering if it's a good upgrade.

I have a stock LS1 engine manifold, can someone help me understand or point me to some good info on it?

Thanks
Bruce

if you have a ls1 instake, the ls6 would be a decent upgrade, but unless you have a cam and heads, you wouldn't have much use for a fast intake.

Some will say yes, and some will say no. Most stock engined guys will say it's not worth the price, but if your looking at a used one, then price becomes less of an issue. In your case, being your car is a 97, your car came equipped with the standard LS1 intake, whereas 01 and later models recieved the LS6 intake which was introduced on the Z06, and is a better flowing manifold. If you already had the LS6 style than the H.P. increase would be less versus the LS1. It will give you some gain, but most people wait to do this mod until they have other mods to compliment it, ie: heads & cam. If you can find one at a good price with all the parts necessary then go for it. Do not go any bigger than the 90mm, and don't waste your money of the smaller version. I believe it is a 76mm. If you get a 90mm, then you will most likely have to change your throttle body too. Most get the 90mm C6 version, with an adapter harness. Good luck and post details of the one your looking to buy before making a bad decision.

Not worth the money unless you're in the high rpm range.

As others have said, Seeing you have a 97 Vette you have the LS1 intake, A great upgrade at a great price would be a LS6 intake unless you are going all out. If you don't plan on modding your motor with cam, heads and Headers you will be wasting your money for a FAST intake.

do the FAST when you do cam, headers and excellent heads. Otherwise theres no real gain.
