Default Which would you sell?

I just purchased a 2002 Z06 and am awaiting delivery. I have decided to sell one of my vehicles (see signature) to help with the down payment. I love both cars, but I drive the Camaro SS everyday for work. The Impala has 53K miles on it and the Camaro has 20K. One consideration is the insurance is almost twice as much for the Camaro as the Impala. I also believe the Impala will hold its value better then the Camaro...

So...given those facts, which would you sell and why? Thanks for any imput you guys can provide  :D

Keeping the SS would be tempting... but I think it would have to go.

- Impala more room
- Impala's cool factor
- Corvette will replace all the need for speed!

Just my 2 cents,
- JeffMc

An Impala is much more different from a Corvette than a Camaro, so I would keep the Impy. Plus it can be way more functional, and would be way cool with a 6 speed conversion :D .

I love F-body cars (see sig), but between the insurance and the functionality of the Impala, that would be my choice.

Tim

Thanks guys for your quick responses. I agree about the Impala providing a more practical alternative to the Z06 and the Camaro...I guess since I havent driven the Z06 yet, I am afraid to give up my "performance" car....ahhhh, I cant wait for delivery. :D

Since your buying a Z06, I would sell the Camaro. Plus, like you mentioned, the SS will hold its value better.

I think it's a good bet that the rear wheel drive GM muscle cars are history (for a variety of reasons). I would keep the SS. I've got a blk 02, 1LE, A4 and I love it. The A4 is a nice break every now and then too and if we go on a short trip the little woman can drive some. Keep the SS.

Both the Camaro SS and the Impala SS are A4's, so I think it boils down to which one is more practical to keep financially. Both cars are no longer in
production (2002 will be last year for the F-bodies), however the Impala has been out of production since 1996 and there were fewer of them produced.

I keep thinking of the insurance...the Camaro would cost just about the same as the Corvette to insure  and the Impala would be about half as much. I am pretty sure the Z06 will satisfy my need for speed, but I will really miss my Camaro :cry

If you keep the SS you'll never drive it. I guarantee that you'll be driving the Z06 whenever you can.

Keep the big one. The Impala is keeping its resale value high in our neck of the woods. Its a cruiser. The Camaro will be a distant memory after a couple of drives in the Z06 ( get into the Camaro and drive it after the Corvette - you'll immediately come up with the same conclusions the board has suggested )

Thanks for the replies...Just as I decided to sell my Camaro, I got a very good offer for my Impala. I am still using my Camaro for police work, so the dept. is paying for the insurance for now, but I do plan on retiring at the end of the year. I am pretty sure I can sell the Camaro then to another policeman. I have a reputation of taking excellent care of my vehicles so people usually dont hesitate to buy them when I offer them for sale. I just drove the Impala the other day for the first time in quite awhile and it was sweet :D Unfortunately I am just a lowly paid civil servant who is trying to buy his dream car, so the others will have to go :( I guess I will buy a beater car later or use my wife's Solara when I retire as I dont want to use the Z06 as a dailey driver.

I would keep the Impala.

The Vette will replace your SS and you won't miss it,
but the Impala is a different type of car and useful
for other things. It is also a better car for the winter
or the rain if that applies in your area. And like you
said the insurance cost is an issue. Plus I think your
SS will be worth more as a trade than the Impala.

Couple of things...I am not tading my vehicles in, I will be selling them myself. I currently use my Camaro for work and I was going to retire, but now I have decided to stay one more year. As long as I use my Camaro for work, the Dept will pay part of my insurance. I could sell the Camaro and use my Impala for work but that would be a hassel switching over all my police equipment. Ahhhh....I should keep the Impala though since it is such a different car from the Z06...decisions, decisions....
