Default Both Windows don't work. Fuse?

Both of my windows stopped working the other day.

Is this a fuse issue? If so which fuse is it?

Thanks in advance.

I thought each had its own fuse but I don't have schematics any more. Maybe there's a feed fuse or circuit breaker to the fuses...someone with diagrams will be able to tell you for sure. Have you checked the fuses yet, since the fuse boxes have everything labeled? You also might want to pull your codes in case something is showing up there.

Went to check the fuses and the windows started working again by themselves.

Very weird.

Since they are high-current items, I would suggest at least checking the battery cables and the cable connections at the solenoid for cleanliness and tightness.

The diagrams are not easy to follow but the window motors seem to be fed by the door modules.

The relevant fuses are all on the footwell panel:

Right: Door Control Module (DCM-R) #30 (10A)
I assume power front door right (PWRFDR) #31 (20A)

Left: Door Control Module (DCM-L) #33 (10A)
PWRFDL #34 (20A)

As Dave suggests the two doors are fused separately so for both to fail at the same time it has to be an "upstream problem". The other things you might check are the grounds or maybe the infamous chafing of the wires in the door hinge bellows.

Mind you even the grounds are different for each door. The left grounds at G201 and the right at G202

Strange problem indeed.

Hello everyone!

I have the same problem with an 03 Z06. My driver's window quit working and it turned out to be a loose connection...crimped the connector for a tight fit and it fixed the problem. My windows worked for 2 days, then both quit working at the same time. Haven't found anything yet. I do hear the clicking in the door when I press the up or down button.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

If not then a common problem with an easy fix is in order. Been there done that.

Let me know and if you have this problem -I will help you!

The window regulators have a short life expectancy.

The common issue is that the brushes wear out on the motors or the wires are grounding out in the according style wire loom in the doors.

They are often temporarily fixed by removing the door and whacking with a hammer the circular looking spot on the door. It knocks some of the crude off the brushes and allows for operation for a couple of months.

The real fix is a rebuild on the regulators or a replacement.

My door locks are still working, so there's power to the switch panels. Are the window motors rebuildable on a C5 Vette??? I'm on somewhere around motor number 5 on each side of my other GM car...a Firebird. I was hoping the Vette had something better in the door.

I have a c5 with a upstream power problem. Both windows don't work. Fuses good. No power at window motors. Any suggestions?

OK, I will be glad to help all the people who have issues BUT NOT HERE. I am not going to try and wade thru who said what about which issue. Just for the OP in this Thread. Please create your own Threads and I and others will be glad to help. Actually it is a Forum rule against hijacking Threads.

Hirohawa, I need to know if your issue is just with the driver side door switch in controlling the windows or not. In other words, when this happens can you control the passenger side with the passenger side door switch there?

Fuse information you should be able to find in your Owners Manual or at the fuse box. These are all in the passenger foot well.

30 Right Door Control Module
31 Power Feed Door Right

33 Door Control Module Left
34 Power Feed Door Left

Respectfully, Mr. Sam

PS: Here is info on removing the door panel in case anyone needs it.

http://www.vetteessentials.com/instr...or_handle.html

Also there is a long known issue with the connections inside the door A-Pillars. Here is that info. Pay attention to pictures 2, 3 and 4.

Dadaroo, this was a necro thread resurrection...5 1/2 years old....

But good info anyway, just don't expect a reply from OP.

Thanks Barry. I am responding to issues on behalf of a dozen Forum across several car makes each day. Sometimes I catch when one is old and sometimes not. Sam
