I purchased a rear deck spoiler for my coupe. I did so assuming that the spoiler would be mounted with 2 sided tape. My bad!...It is stud& nut mounted thus the manufacturer recommends that the deck and sides be drilled for the designed fit.
It is an ACI 740 spoiler, I called them and they were more than helpful and nice.
My question for out there is: Have any of you removed the studs and used 2 sided in place of ?.....if you did, are you satisfied with the fit?
I have not done this but I have heard of some doing this and I will say that the 2 sided tape is very capable of holding it on. 3M two sided tape is the bomb-diggity.

3M tape is very strong when used correctly, You want to make sure the surface is clean and free from all wax and be sure to use an adhesion promoter. (spelling?)
What advice did ACI give you? If the model you speak of is the subtle "lip" spoiler, and hollow, tape should work great. BTW, Mr. Bill, the word is adhesion.
I put on a low profile lip spoiler and it came with the 3-M double sided tape. It can be removed with a heat gun or hiar dryer and fish line. It will not hurt the finish. Here are afew shots of the install.
This is after it was placed on the rear for fitment. the blue tape is where it will go once I was ready to install it.

ACI said the studs would give the best and designed fit but they also direct you to not put to much pressure on the nuts for obviuos reasons but when I set the spoiler on the car, I just dont see where the studs would really make it fit snugger/better unless you take the chance and over tighten (not good for fiberglass)
those of you who hate spoilers or have nothing postive to add or share, please keep yo mouths and mouses to yo selfs and go tweeter/facebook or something ,please
.......thanks so much to all of you have replied with ideals and your own expieriances!
If you are talking about this spoiler from ACI I didn't use the studs and mounted mine with 3m tape..Been on the car over a year now ..
this is the same spoiler......please tell me did you apply the tape to the spoiler or to the car??.....and did you use tape for the entire length of the spoiler or peices, and did you use tape on the side spear things as well, thanks.....btw nice car!! the fit looks great from this angle. How does it look as you look backwards standing over beside the car? around the corners fit good?

I did use tape across the whole top portion of the spoiler and cut 2 peices of tape per side for the corners..Once I had the tape on I had a couple of freinds come over to help stick it to the car..Always good to have a extra pair of hands handy..Here are a couple more shots for you...

Thanks heaps to all of you and a double heap of thanks to SoSlow you really put me at ease with the tape, I was freaking a bit thinking about having to drill my vette up.
again that is a suh-weeet looking coupe ya got der. I will be having a high rise hood installed and painted monday myself..pics coming soon
I bought one with the hopes of using tape to hold it on but the fit was not close enough for that to work. So decided to go ahead and bolt it on because it is the style sopiler I wanted and it would never come off. But after talking to my body man we decided that the fit was just too bad for even a bolt on appication and I sent it back to ACI. It just don't fit my car, too large of gaps between spolier and bumper where it curves. If I ever find a used one I will mod it to fit and tape it on.
