Default Black wing filter oiling

I have cleaned the filter and ready to oil.
Instructions states oil until even blue color thru out.
Filter already has a blue cast to it. Does the oil make it darker?
I am using an aersol can, so concerned as to how much.
Thanks in advance for the advice.

I use a mixture of mineral oil and alcohol in a spray bottle. The alcohol evaporates and leaves the oil.

Use the aerosol very sparingly. Be patient. Spray the raised pleats and allow it to wick down into the valleys of the media. Allow that to occur over night. If you see areas that appear to be dry, re-apply there only.

You want to avoid over spraying the media, which is what gets owners in trouble. The oil then contaminates the MAF sensor wires.

For future reference, when you run out of the aerosol oil, S&B FILTERS sells a cleaning kit with the oil applied in a small measured syringe. It's much easier/safer to use.

No need to thoroughly soak the filter media - a little new oil will do the job.
