If I'm not mistaken, your dealer should be able to make the change. They will have to give you documentation that it was done too.
I am going to go ahead and tell you I am wrong up front just in case, but for some reason I thought the mileage was stored in the computer and only "displayed" in the cluster which means it should have corrected on its own. Not sure where I read that, but I was certain I did. The reason was to avoid changing the cluster for the sole purpose of falsifying mileage.
I think I was reading about people that were swapping computers and NOT getting the mileage corrected. (???)

I can verify that. Mileage is in the cluster, atleast on my 99 anyway.
I installed HUD in my 99 and bought a complete HUD with cluster. Got it installed to find 30,000 miles less on new cluster than my old one. Did a swap back with my old cluster, as it was HUD compatible. so the mileage was right.

I had to have a cluster mileage changed and my local dealer had to send it out, I got a whole lot of crap about how it is a Fedral offence to change the cluster with out having it reset, They kept the car for 2 days while the cluster was sent out and updated.

Actually, that sounds like the best way to do it therefore if there is ever any questions raised, your hands were not involved and a formal dealer took care of making sure things were documented carefully and correctly.
The sponsor on the bottom of this page does that-amazing coincidence!
