So, I am need of some tires and was wondering if anyone purchased any tires on Ebay. There are two Bridgestone 305/30/19 RE050A tires for sale for around $325 with 7/32nds on each and it seemed like a good deal.
Just curious if anyone has ever purchased tires on Ebay and if the transaction was good or bad
I've bought several sets off ebay from different venders with no problems..The 315-30-18's I have on the car now came off ebay used for under $400 and they were nearly brand new..
I bought two sets of tires from ebay. One set was brand new, never mounted on wheels. The other set was new and taken off a new vette. Both deals went smooth without problems. Both sets where shipped UPS and arrived within a week. Just check the sellers feedback and comments from other buyers. You might want to check dates on used tires also.
I'm glad to hear everyone had good transactions and thanks for the tip on checking the dates on the tires!
Now I have a new question: how old is too old on used tires? And if you had the choice between two NEW V12 Hankook tires from tirerack or a pair of PS2s or other superior tires with ~70% tread left, each for 400, which would you choose?
Just trying to make an educated decision.
Thanks,
Hoops

New V12s
Just put some on my sons Z and also bought another set for a 2000 Stang
A few years ago I bought some used tires off Ebay from a business in Ohio. They advertised 7/32 tread depth. I measured them when they arrived and they were 3/32!!! I raised enough crap that they finally refunded my money. When I offered to return the tires if they paid the shipping they said, no need, just keep them.
I bought some a while ago from ebay and I beleive they were discontinued and about 5 years old. As you know, rubber get hard and tires expire. Once the rubber gets hard forget about traction. I would ask them for the manufacture date before you purchase them. There are several vendors on ebay that sell expired tires only. I believe discount tire will not sell a tire that is 2 years old. Back then I did not know tires had a date stamped in the sidewall with two sets of numbers. The week it was manufactured and the year.

Most articles I have read indicate that at 6 years tires are too old.
I wouldn't buy used tires that are more than two years old.

IMO a very good tire.
Bought them on Ebay they were here in 2 days
A buddy put them on his C6, he went from kdw's, and the sidewall flex was horrid! He returned them and put kdw's back on.
We both read all the reviews and the 1 mag article, but if you drive hard/auto-x/hpde the flex in the sidewall makes you very concerned. Hard to explore the limits of a car when the tires "give" so early.
