I have a loud whining in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear and it goes a way in 4th gear and it only happens when i give it gas but when i let go the gas pedal it goes a way. It sounds like straight cut gears. What do you guys think my problem is? Any help would be much appreciated.

You might want to take a serious look at your driveshaft couplers. If either lets go completely, the driveshaft will take out a bunch of other things too and the price goes WAY up.
Well, i checked the trans fluid it's full but it's on the dark side instead of being red and there's a slight leak at the back of the trans where it meets the rearend. What causes the fluid to turn dark with only 31000 miles on the car?
What i am gonna do later today is drain all the old fluid out and put new one in, drive it for few miles and re drain again to get all the old one out kinda like flushing and fill with new fluid to see if that cures the problem.
If it does it under heavy acceleration then it's normal. I have always heard slight gear whine from my transmission when under heavy acceleration. It you're hearing it just driving around then I would check the oil level in the transmission.

I think youre on the right track here. I've owned 2 Z06's now and they both had/have some gear whine. It is normal to an extent. Pay attention to the oil you drop out of it and look for excessive metal flaking. If not, you are probably ok.
Well old fluid out, new fluid in for flush drove around, drained again and put new fluid in again. What i found in old fluid was some small metal particles, what's the cause i have no idea. Could it be a bearing going out?
The result is that the whine is still there, i am gonna drive the thing for a while and see where it gets then will go from there.
mine did exactly that.. right after a couple launches at the strip. Once torn apart, I found some dig marks on the rear end gears. I had it all replaced however mine didn't look like it could have gone catastrophic on me. Just sounded bad.
On the plus side, the whining made me drive home (400 mi.) at 60-65 mph and I got 34.5 mpg!!
I remember test driving a '99 Formula back in the day and the transmission imput shaft bearing was on it's way out... it had a whine that stayed through every gear... I didn't drive the car over 70 for fear of it locking up.
I believe fourth gear in your trans is direct drive and fifth and sixth are overdrive. If so, it could be the input bearing in the trans as for some reason it is always worse in lower gears[ the whine], probably due to torque multiplication. Hope I'm wrong. Good luck.
