I put Ti's on mine and am satisfied with them. There are other things to consider as well.
They are not loud, but have a little more rumble then stock. Also, the quality of the sound is nicer IMO.
They are much lighter than stock. I'm not sure what the weight difference is, but I'm guessing they are about half the weight.
They breath better than stock and probably better than many of the after market systems. If you are upgrading your intake, these are a good choice for exhaust.
I would not purchase them with the idea of doing the by-pass mod previously mentioned. It is very difficult to find someone to weld titanium. It's not that they don't know how, but very few have the titanium rod in stock that is required. The rod is extremely expensive.
I have a 2000 that I bought last Sept. It has stock exhaust and sounded very weak for a sports car. I looked at all options and read lots of forum posts of types and price ranges. Even some owners going back to stock because of too loud exhausts after purchase. Then I stumbled onto the muffler bypass thread of years past.
2 days ago I had the muffler bypass mod done by a local muffler shop and the results were impressive for the $ 60.00 that I spent. Excellent idle and increased rpm sound with no interior drone, actually I think it is even quieter at cruising speeds. Just my 2 cents.
I kind of wished that I had bought a Ti exhaust when I upgraded but I went with Corsa Pace Cars and for me they are too loud. I know most on here like a really loud exhuast sound, but maybe it's my age because I don't like it. The Pace cars have no drone, which is nice, but they do have the motor boat sound at idle and really scream when you put the metal down. Ti has a softer, smoother sound but if you like loud, they're not going to fill the bill. They're a little louder than stock, but not a heck of a lot.
Don't want loud (at my age...) - just looking for a bit more rumble than stock...
i would go with the ti's. i had corsa's on a coupe that i had and now have a z with ti's and i like the sound of the ti's better. i wish that i would have put ti's on the coupe. plus the ti's are about half the cost...hind site is 20/20
You can buy the corsa touring in the mid america catalog and you will be able to pick twin oval exhaust tips that really look kool.
There is nothing wrong with picking up a Ti exhaust you can pick one up as new as new can be for under $400 and $100 to instal but save your old exhaust.
The Touring exhaust is ok but looks great, when you check this catalog you will be able to hear it also.
Would the TI's be different enough to be worth the additional expense or are the very close to stock?
TI option is not worth the time. They are a lot less weight but that is about it. I did it so I know from experience. I ended up with GHL s and then an X pipe on top of that mod to get rid of the motor boating.
You Might get lucky and find Corsa Touring in the parts for sale section. Mid America may be an option. Mid America's own touting LOOKS like a copy of Corsa,,might also be a less expensive option. Corsa Touring with na X-pipe should make you happy!! If you have a manual,,you probably could skip the X,,but the A4 trans I would strongly suggest the X !!

Do I need the entire TI exhaust system or just mufflers and tail pipes?
If you are going with Ti,,you look for the same thing as any aftermarket system. ALL systems bolt to flanges at the back of the main exhaust pipes. It does not matter what system it is ,,all C5's have the same size pipes and flanges and will bolt right up. The flanges are just a little in front of the rear axles. Everyone refers to systems as "cat back",,but in reality they are actually axle back systems. Buying used Ti systems,,the main thing you have to watch for is somebody that was lazy,,and cut the pipe where it goes up and over the axle. If they do that it is useless.
I have the nxt steps... with headers and offroad x-pipe. I have videos of the exhaust with stock manifolds and with the headers. Don't get the TI's. A lot of people forget that the ZO6 they come off of has higher compression and bigger camshaft, making the car louder. Put it on a stock C5 and you will barely notice it, possibly not even at all.
I just think if you only want a "Little more rumble" I kind of don't understand the point in spending the money. I know how the stock made me nuts at time but WOT they weren't awful. But I wanted a BIG change so I went with BB Bullets anything less then that was a waste of money to me. But thats just me.
I apologize for not having read through the whole thread but have to recommend Flowmaster for the ultimate in low-end rumble....they do not have great tips but the sound is great at idle and it does scream at WOT. However....quality.....my baby came with FM's and it was fun...I even installed some better tips.....but then the baffles inside came loose and it was not thrilling to hear them bang around on every dang bump.
So, the next step was these...Nxt Step.....No more "low end" rumble, but the sound inside and out is good to the ear.
Looking to upgrade from stock exhaust but only looking for a little more rumble - nothing drastic
Suggestions???
You can't go wrong with Magnaflow 16732's. They give you the muscle car rumble and are just slightly louder than stock. They sound amazing at WOT. The quality is excellent and they have the best looking tips in the industry. I love mine. Check out my profile for pictures.

I know a lot of people like a pretty agressive exhaust sound - that's just never been my thing and as I get older, it gets to be less "my thing". I just want to hear the exhausts more at idle and normal in-town situations than I can get from stock exhausts.
Money's not always the issue - true, I'm not going to spend tons on headers, exhausts, etc...again, just tryin' to get a bit more rumble...
Sounds like Corsa Touring is what you are looking for. I run the Pace Car version which got to be obnoxious (how I like it ) after LT's/big cam/OR X-pipe/Blower etc... So, depending on if you plan to get LT's and/or a cam, you might want to go with Corsa Touring or may be even the Ti's and add electric cut-outs for when you want to be loud.

Corsca Touring is what I'm looking at right now - have looked on U-Tube and other sites and they seem to be what I want...
