Mine also doesn't always open by the console button. It'll work a dozen times, then have a mind of its own for a while. Then it works again w/o having done anything to it.

It's not the fuses on mine because I can hear the solenoid clicking. It's also not the plunger spring being rusted as the car isn't driven in the rain. I do use a locking cap, but I confirmed it isn't applying pressure to the latch/cover.

I did manage to get it to work a little better with a light application of white lithium on the plunger and the latch on the hinged cover. Don't put to much on or the cover will pop open with the slightest bump. I also gently bent the latch which seemed to work the best. Maybe it has to do with temperature, I dunno.

It's just as easy, at least to me, to use the manual pull release in the trunk and accept the fact that nothing stays perfect forever. Just ask my wife...

Mine has not worked in a a couple of years (I use the cable release in the hatch). I don't hear a click when I hit my button either. I have always figured it to be the switch in the console (if I'm lucky it's simply disconnected). One day I'll check it out.
