Default Check engine flashes for a couple seconds..

Hows it going everyone. I've been looking around and don't think anyone has had this problem. When I'm warming the vette up in the morning, the check engine light flashes between 5-30 seconds, then goes away.

No driveability issues whatsoever and no codes found. It was like that before I had it tuned at LG and figured it would go away after being tuned, but it hasn't. Is this something I should worry about? Any of you have this problem?

ONE MORE THING.... My car runs smooth, idles fine, and screams bloody murder when I punch it with no hiccups. The problem is that after full throttle runs, the idle drops a little lower than normal 400-500 rpm VS. 900-950 RPM. Any thoughts?

Thanks for taking a look at my issues and I look forward to any responses you may have..

Not to worry--just drive it--sounds like something that will just fade away--try to disc. battery for 30 min--that will reset everything--

Normally it does that if it has detected a misfire.

The idle surge sounds like you still have a tune issue.

I would take it back and have LG double check the tune.

Because it wasn't tuned properly after the cam installation and was running rich, do you think that it may have killed one or more of the spark plugs? Wires? Would that be something worth checking on my end before having to drive 3 hours back to LG?

Thanks for the advice guys.

A flashing CEL does indicate a misfire.

Depending on how long you ran it too rich after the cam was installed, you may have wiped out some rings.

I wouldn't suspect wires or plugs for a cold start related item... those usually cause problems while loading the engine. If it isn't rings, you may need to have the cold start tables adjusted... does it fire right up or is it hard to start?

My suggestion would be to perform a compression test (at minimum) then a leak down test. You can purchase those tools at your local parts store for cheap, and it doesn't take long to do.

If you have a cold-air induction system of some kind (Blackwing, Vararam, Haltech, etc.) ,check the clamps that connect everything together. Sometimes they will loosen up . Just tighten the clamps up just to be sure. That could be the issue.

Yeah, it fires right up within the first turn or the starter. All the time. Do I have to remove anything big in order to do the compression/leakdown test? This would be a first for me...

Ahhhh--

I'm just wondering why it happens only on a cold start, NOT all of the time, and lasts for only 5 seconds to 30 seconds at a time. It has never happened during any type of acceleration..

Nope nothing big. You need to pull all the spark plugs out and have the person turning the motor over to hold the throttle all the way to the floor - that's the signal to the computer to not inject fuel, otherwise it could get messy.

There are probably step-by-step instructions on the site somewhere.

Since it fires right up, you may have a cam or crank sensor going bad or something. Maybe take it back to whomever did the cam install and have them check it out?? I start misfire problems with a compression test is why I suggested it.
