Default Tire brand mfg differences between front & back

Hello Forum brothers/sisters,

I am a fairly new member to the forum and just got my first Vette last November.

My car is due for a new pair of front tires. The rears are in fairly good shape. All tires are the run flat Goodyear's that come stock with the car.

Here is the question and I apologize up front for it perhaps being a stupid one ..... Can I put Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus ZP tires on the front with the Goodyears remaining on the rear or should I go ahead and replace all 4 tires at the same time??????

I have read on the forum the pro's and con's of staying with run flats vs non-run flats and would prefer to stay with the run flats for a variety of reasons.

Any advice/input would be sincerely appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Ok, this is the way I look at it and nothing more than that....my opinion. C5 Corvettes are not particularly well made cars. The interiors suck, the fit and finish leaves a lot to be desired and they have a bunch of common problems there's just is no excuse for.

All that said there are three areas they have going for them that make putting up with all that worthwhile. Image, performance and handling. In those three areas they are the best bang for the buck hands down.

To me to do anything that detracts from any of those three areas simply makes no sense. Can you mix and match tires? Certainly. No one will die and the world will not spin off it's axis. But you will certainly degrade your cars handling for the sake of saving relatively little money. I would never consider doing this for even a minute.

But it's your car and you're certainly free to do as you please. I've had the Michelin AS ZP's on my car and was very satisfied with them. You might take note that Michelin even cautions against mixing different models of their own tires.

yes you can do it, if you drive with your foot to the floor, and try to carve every corner, you might want to do all 4 at the same time....

and i agree with what was said above...

All right....

I admit I've had a libation or two tonight....but WTF?????

How do ya wear out the FRONT tires before the rears???

Seriously...I just replaced my rears with the Michelin PS A/S ZP's, while still running the OEM GY'S on the front. This happened about 10 days ago. Search my username for my thread on THAT experience...

Took it on a 150 mile trip to da beach today.....All's GOOD!

No worries for what you're contemplating....except you should allow me to wear the rubber off your rear tires to match the fronts!
