Hey everyone, I purchased an FM Modulator to install to listen to devices with a 3.5mm input (precisely connect my phone to play Pandora). Before I installed it, I heard about the AUX2Car setup and did some searches, but am a little confused.
Below are the components I think is all I need to connect my phone to it. Can you please tell me if I'm missing anything and/or if it's gonna work?
I have an 04 C5Z with the AUX Button on the radio, but NO CD Changer in the trunk.
Here's what I think I need:
PAC Audio AUX-BOX (AUX2CAR)
Pac AB-GM9 General Motors Vehicle Harness
and a GMH20T
I read this note while performing my search:
1998-2004 GM vehicles NOT equipped with a factory slave unit may not be able to support an external device therefore the AUX-BOX may not be compatible
What's a slave unit? How do I know if this setup is going to work??
I'm not too sure about that unit you have pictured above, but if your phone is an iPhone and you haven't already purchased that one, you should consider this unit from a forum vendor, which will work great. I put one in my C5Z easily enough and it's the real deal.
You'll want the pxhgm4 option if you don't have the CD changer. I didn't have to worry about slaving this or that; just hook up the wires and set a few switches on the unit as needed, and you're all set. It will charge your phone too, and you can control track selection from either the head unit or the phone itself.
It's possible this could work with a Droid. I'd contact Dennis through the above link and see. It could be all that's needed is a different wire that runs from the unit to your phone. He's got a lot of different things on hand.
