I have a question about the LS6 vs. LS1? I understand that there will be 45 horsepower differences between the two motors from 350hp to 405hp. Other than the difference in horsepower what advantages does the LS6 has over the LS1?
higher rpms due to better oil passages in the block. also higher rpms can be achieved due to better valve springs. better rod bolts in the ls6 in comparison to the early LS1's also allow higher rpms (later ls1's will have the same bolts). better flowing heads = more mpg also. i also think all the ls1 engines past 2001 used the ls6 block with the better oil passages.

01-04 heads (higher compression) Cam.
So if you take a LS1 and do heads/cam or and LS6 and do heads/cam then No Diff.
The biggest difference (and advantage) for the LS6 is the heads. Also, depending on what year C5, the LS6 intake is better (IIRC, after 2000 all C5's had the LS6 intake).
