bought a kit from JW, reg.. size ballast. need pictures of were and how to mount them. I've not done these before so i would really appreciate any detail. i have the instructions from JW but I'm brain dead after all the stuff i did today to it.
You can mount the ballast where you want. It really does not matter where they are mounted as long as there is enough slack in the wires for the lights to go up and down.
The simple way to explain the connection is: Plug From Car to plug on HID kit (ballast/ignitor), then plug bulb in. (This is VERY simplified). Now, if you have some type of harness to go along with your kit, I'm not sure on that. (I was assuming you are just using a plug and play kit)

I put mine behind the headlight HID bulbs. It is easier to do if you take the headlight covers off and headlight buckets out. There are 2 torx type screws holding it in. Spay first with WD40 or a solvent type spray. You can do a search how to do this. You just have to make sure that the wires do not get pinched when the lights open/close. I used double sided 3M moulding tape available at auto parts stores. You could also use heavy duty velcro.
thanks, does anyone know the positive and negative colors on the wires? also the lights come in a plastic housing, do i just brake it off? theres a rubber grommet that seems to not fit any where, like it fits into a hole.
thanks

The top of the plastic housing should be threaded on to the plastic cap.....no need for the grommet. Don't touch the HID bulb glass with your bare hands/figures.
Wires are usually red + and black -
I suggest you mount your ballasts with the wiring connectors facing down......to help avoid water issues
as you may no the wires are green and black, past history says dont always assume so I'm asking in advance.
not sure what you mean on the plastic cover, i know to unscrew the top but what to do with the base?
thanks for the link.
i have JW's install instructions, with everything im doing to it i dont want this to be the part that looks like crap.
The plastic screw base should have a hole big enough to pass the bulb and base through........if not just cut through the plastic of just leave it hang.
As to the wires, mine were not from JW and were red and black with the correct plug attached.......but it will only light up one way, so give her a try and if no light, swap the wire positions.
Some helpful posts with pics, different HIDs, but same process
