Default Quarter panel removal

Aloha all, been waiting to throw on my new rear quarter panels and I wanted to know if anyone had a write-up on the removal of the 1/4 panels? I know its a few screws and should just come off, but looking at the screws at the top of the panel near the trunk, I cannot see how to access the torx screws without damaging the screw or the body....

Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

Mahalo, Dave

get all the screws out that you can reach with a t-15 and a pull the lights and get all the 10mm bolts off. The the tricky ones (only 2 on the driver side and 3 on the pass side) which is weird, but i bent a zig-zag on a flat small screwdriver and make sure it fits across the t 15 and locks into the points. then turn 1/8 turn each time. they have slots not holes so get the screws backed out 1/8" and slide the fender out. i just did mine to prepare for front and rear TPE fenders. Just got in my 345-30-19 nt-05R drag radials!

Sweet info jph. I'm in the same boat. Got any pics of your special wrench? If so, that would probably be quite helpful for my paint/body guy. Thank you for your insight brutha.

If you have a ZO6, you DO NOT have to remove the 2 top screws on the drivers side or the 3 top screws on the pass. side. I'm talking about the ones you can just see but can't reach. The quarters have slots cut into them for the top screws and just slide under them. It will take a little effort and wiggling to remove the quarter and the same installing the new one. Didn't have to loosen the screws either. I replaced the drivers quarter on my '02 ZO6 and it wasn't too difficult. The fuel door was more of a pain realigning than the quarter. Good luck

Correct, the screws actually have a shoulder on them so you cannot overtighten them. The old quarter will slide off with some effort as stated above. Make sure on your new ones that the front holes are slotted and the flange is not to thick to slide onto the bolts. The new quarters may require some grinding on the bottom of the flange area to get the thickness right, should be the same as the stock ones. PM me at the barn Dave if you have any other questions.
