Separation Anxiety!
I am a relative newby to the Vette scene and I must admit I like (no, love) my car oh so very much.
I would appreciate some input from you Veterans out there regarding my issue.
I am very particular where I park my car to the extent I feel that I need to keep an almost continual eye on it. Watching the KSU/N Texas game yesterday, I positioned myself at an angle (in a bar) where I could observe who/what was parking next to the car. My Financee was giving me major crap every time I was glancing out the window towards the car.
Listen, before you unload and call me too crazy about this bear in mind I have read several threads on this forum regarding member's who have had jealous idiots mess with their cars one way or the other.
So, henceforth my request from you grizzled veterans with respect to taking your cars out in public and leaving them behind for a bit......
At the end of the day, I know the Vette is just a car and shouldn't ruin one's activities, peace of mind in the present, etc. BUT, this car is something special.. Something I have dreamed about obtaining for nigh on 25 years....
Do you worry about your car like this?
Thanks in advance for your insight.

My son-in-law was on my case Saturday night, we went to Applebees, and he thought I parked my Vette too far out of sight. I guess in decent places I take a little less precaution, but so far, so good, can't baby-sit it all the time.

With ya!
Most of the vette guys I know, including myself . . . like to keep an eye on our cars.
For some reason the Corvette seems to be a magnet to all the weird people out there. I've seen vettes that have been keyed, parts have been stolen off of mine in broad daylight. Once I went into a video store to return a DVD, came out within five minutes . . . there where three kids leaning their bikes on my vette and one sitting on the hood talking. (That didn't go well, almost lost a girlfriend over that incident) My brother came to town for a visit with his girlfriend. He was driving his pride and joy, an immaculate black vette. He parked right by the front door of a pizza place and went in for a quick bite. When he came out, someone had taken a pizza and smeared it all over the hood and then stuffed the rest of it under his windshield wipers.
I keep an eye on my car and I'm very picky where I park it.
I did not wash my car all winter up here in MA. I finally got a chance to do it the other day and I could hardly believe all the door-dings I got from all the other people, at my place of work no less, who just let their doors bump/hit my doors, shoot!
Wax took care of most of the blemishes and I live with the rest as I bought the car used, thank goodness, and knew I'd drive it about every day and have made peace with the fact that because I care less than most about the appearance of the car that less bad will happen to the outside of it.
It runs mint though and that is what is most important to me, that and it still looks awesome despite all its warts.

I didn't think I was alone on this point of Vette ownership! I am still pinching myself that I finally am a member of the Vette family! Oh... what a feeling!!!!

Yes, its "just" a car, albeit, a special one. I absolutely love driving this car, but I always worry about her if I leave it for a short time, and park a long ways way from anything. Good exercise! But in that respect, the worry factor, its not much fun. BTW, enjoy your car!
