Sounds like you might have a gear that is going out. There is a fix to replace the plastic gear with a brass gear.
Not a difficult repair. Parts and directions from Rodney Dickman are excellent. Do both lights. Takes a couple hours on the first one working slowly and methodically (not counting overnight to let epoxy dry.) Second one goes much faster since you know the procedure.
I had the same problem on my '04. I ordered the set from Rodney and finally had a decent weekend this month to do it. Not a difficult do it yourself project and well worth the savings from having the dealer charge for that. Here is one of the many informative posts here w/ full pics on the process: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...ferrerid=50108
I had the same problem. Ordered the brass gears and replaced them in a few hrs. Now...after a couple times of lights on/lights off - the lights stay in the CLOSED position and I have to manually loosen them in order for them to pop up. Suggestions?
I got the same problem with my 01. Got the same advice to replace gears. Googled it and one response was to have the dealer replace the motor for $347 (drivers side) and .9 of $100 labor. Havent decided.

You can install the motor easily yourself with no special tools. If I cannot make the lights pop up/down, then I'll be buying two new motors and dumping the gear "fix".
