Default Twilight feature?

I think my multifunction switch may be on its way out. If I turn off the twilight feature shouldn't I be able to turn the head lights on and off manually? It doesn't happen all the time but the head lights only come on when the twilight feature is turned on. If i turn the the lights on manually the head lights don't always come on nor do they come up. Any ideas? BTW this is on an 04.

I believe you should be able to turn off/on the headlights manually whether the twilight setting is enabled or not. If your headlights are off and down, turning the switch on one click should turn on parking and rear lights and turning up 1 more click should bring up lights and turn them on. If twilight is set or not, this should happen same way.

do you have a Canadian car? if so, clip both wires on the left hand sensor nearest the windshield. solder in a 100ohm resistor - and then bob's your uncle.

No, I'm pretty sure its not a canadian car. It doesn't have the 300km speedometer.
