After about 4 months lurking about on this forum to learn more about the C5 Z06, I finally pulled the trigger on a 2-owner Z from a forum member (msnbound) and took possession of it yesterday. Thanks to all of your posts for helping me get a better understanding of what I'm getting myself into
After a bit of cleaning up, some obligatory pics:
My neighbors will think I gave in to my mid-life crisis, but I don't really care because it's an awesome piece of automotive machinery!!
Msnbound put some $$ into it, but more importantly as I live in SoCal and have to contend with strict emissions, the engine is unmolested except for the Borla Cat-Back exhaust, which gives it a great exhaust note both at idle and at speed. I would have liked to it come with a 19/20" wheel combo as this is not a DD, but the SSR's are a pretty good option.
Will have to contemplate some mods in due time, and I'm still on the fence about the BSM's. I would prefer the clean look, but the BSM's have served their purpose as there are some marks on them to indicate they did save the doors on an occasion or two...
On an related note, does anyone also think that the rear brake calipers look a little tiny and should be a little bigger?
Congrats and to hell with the neighbors or coworkers or anyone else potentially spreading negative energy. Be safe and don't wreck it and they won't have any crap to talk about.
Not to worry. I'll just ignore those kids rolling by revving their engines looking for a challenge. I'm a little too old for stoplight dragracing.
Funny note: The wife related a story today that a couple of her friends around the neighborhood are complaining that their husbands saw me in the Z and now a few have gotten the "itch"!!
Looking forward to the weekend. Taking the Z out to stretch its legs on PCH.

Seeing as how the doors are plastic, they don't get door dings. My car has 140,000 miles without BSMs and my doors are free of damage. My hood and windshield are pitted as hell, but the doors are great. I wouldn't be afraid to take them off and I think it'd look much better without them.
It's beautiful. I don't think you're missing out at all not having a 19/20 combo, because the stance is perfect now. Welcome, and have fun with the greatest car ever made. (IMHO)
The 19/20's are a "nice to have" but certainly not a "have to have" item as the stance is pretty darn good now. I'm going to leave the BSM's on for a while longer. However, there are some parts coming to include new plugs and wires, and new brake pads to go with the D/S rotors that came with the purchase. Can't wait!
New brake rotors and pads installed as well as some TR-55's and new wires. The rotors were a PITA to remove as they had become one with the hub. And for the plug/wires, removing the old wires were a major PITA.
Thanks to all on the CF that took the time to impart their knowledge and experience. It was a tremendous help to a weekend DIY'er like myself. Waiting on the Euro Tail Light wiring harness now.
Would anyone care to share some wisdom on a Catch-Can install? That item came in the mail yesterday.
