Default AC compressor

apparently the c5 has a problem with ac compressors and clutches failing. mine failed, so ill be installing a new compressor. i was wondering if i could use one from a c6? The ac compressor design was changed for the c6, but perhaps the bracket is the same due to the similar block. i want to buy one that wont fail :P. any suggestions on where i should buy a new one?

id rather save $900 in labor and do it myself. for the cost at the dealer i could change it out 3 times.

my car is a 99 and the old one lasted 11 years and 112k miles. Im going to buy a brand new compressor, not a rebuilt one. I want one that will last too thats why im wondering if i can use one for a c6, since the design was changed. brand new c6 compressor would be optimum if they are set up the same.

The connections are different, so no it won't work.

I am getting ready to replace mine also, it is on a 2000 with 69K. I think the issue that caused mine to fail was primarily on verts the A/C is not run alot so the seals dry and fail. Lack of use is worse than constant use. Anyway I bought my new stuff from:

Well wait, can I post a buisness on here if they are not a sponsor? if not and someone wants to know shoot me an IM and I will give you their information.

I am not affiliated with them at all, just a good product from good people. Very friendly and great to work with. great price and good warranty, can get new or rebuild.

doesn't the cradle have to come down, or is there enough room to fish it out?
