test drive them both...they are two completely different cars and pick the one you like the best its really simple no need to get others opinions because its your money.
Comes down to the body style you like. Turning your Coupe into a Z06? Cheap when compared to turning your Z06 into a targa coupe. To me I don't mind the Z06 but I think being able to take the top off is really cool. If a vert was my only option I would not have a Vette. But that is just my opinion. To me the long back window just screams vette. But again that is only me. How cool is it to have three pretty different options?
I bought a '99 FRC and took it to LPE for the 500 HP package (427 rwhp on the dyno). Faster than a a stock ZO6. 'Love the aggressive stance of the FRC!!! And Oh, how it can smoke its tires now with a top speed over 190 mph!
thanks again for the input, you guys are making it easy for me to make a decision (well kinda) i will try to take a look at an 02' Z with 74k on the clock for $19k, it's a bit high according to KBB but, i'm fully aware of the personal value of things. I'll accept and pay the 19k with no problem.
If you will accept & pay 19 w/no problem for a 74K miler 02 why not get a 23K miler for a just a few K more? He's also fresh new in the autotrader w/more pics.

Yeah low mileage gems are going to become rare, there is no way I'd sell mine for less than $32,500. Most people with a low mileage example by this point are only going to sell because they have to. That is why there are so few available right now.

I saw this thread yesterday but didn't get a chance to add my .02. If you like to have the power and the speed I would go with a Z. But to have the option of taking the top off make it such a summer car to drive. No disrespect to the Z drivers. I end up buying a 99 Vert just so I can drop the top. But I do understand that a Vert isn't the type of car to go speed racing in. I have a fear of the roll over etc so I just cruise. My personal opinion is go for the coupe. Upgrade the engine to get the Z HP and enjoy those summer days with the top out.
