I have had my 2001 corvette convert. for only 5 days(I never loved anything more than i love this car!) I have not had a chance to race a srt8 or a new camaro ss, so I was wandering if anybody had that experience and could share the results. My(completely stock) vette is automatic and goes 0-60 in about 5.1-5.3, Some people say that charger srt8 can do it under 5 sec. Personally it is hard for me to believe, cause I have had charger r/t and 0-60 was 6.2-6.3 , srt8 has only 25 more lb ft of toque, and that is not enough to make such adifference in 0-60 time. So i guess the best way to find out is to actually race them, i was also wandering how i would do agaist shelby gt 500. So if if anybody has raced those cars please let me know how you did.
I plan to put exhaust, CAI, predator tune, and zo6 wheels next month, how much do you think those upgrades will improve my 0-60 time. (I really want to break the 5 sec point!!!
Thanks everybody!
He didn't really say street race, could have meant on a track....
I think stock vs stock the three cars should be pretty close, perhaps an edge to the SS and SRT8 over a auto vert C5.
On a closed road. (No Access to the Public) From a dig and a 30 mph roll I pulled a SRT-8 Challenger by a 1/2 to 1 car length. My C5 auto coupe is stock.
I have not run either of these cars at the track but have seen them run on he same nights I did. The best I saw them run was 13.8's and I ran 13.0's Stock Auto with 3.15's.
The times I've seen in the mags for the Camaro SS are around 13.0 seconds flat. It would be a helluva stretch for a stock C5 to beat these times . Most stock C5 autos seem to be mid 13s. The best time on the C5 fast list is 12.79 for a stock C5. SRt8 would be closer, maybe driver dependent. Headers, cold air intake and a tune and you can beat them.

I think it would be a good race to watch, regardless of which of the other two cars you lined up against. I'd say if either of the other cars has an excellent driver, they just might edge you out.
C5 hands down. Weight and coefficient of drag at higher speeds will play a tremendous difference. Slippery lighter car will edge out heavy brick on wheels. Just my $.02
My previous car was a 2006 300c SRT8 and it was all stock and I use to take regular stock c5's no problem up to 120mph (on a closed course of course). My best 1/4 time was a 13.1

All the SS Camaros that are stock are running 13.6 to 13.9's at our local track.I really havent paid any attention to the SRT8's.My lightly modded 2004 A4 coupe with 3.15's just ran it's best at 12.84.
Going to be too close to matter, and the camaro has an ls3 so when people start adding CAI, exhaust, and a tune, The Camaros will smoke you. Just mod the car, have fun, and stop worrying about who is faster. Someone is ALWAYS faster. If you have enough money to play the I'm faster than you game, please by all means do so, but expect to blow up multiple engines and mortgage your house to pay for parts, and then still probably lose to someone willing to mortgage their bigger house.

Lol. Different strokes for different folks. Maybe he thinks we all wear our hats wrong; no ultimate right or wrong way to wear a hat. Wear it however you want, that's what makes America great!
On a closed course.....I have raced a SRT-8 up to 120-140 and had a few cars on it. My best friends roomate has a 2010 SS automatic (L99). my friends modded C4 (320rwhp) pulled the camaro by a few cars. My c5 pulled the same C4 by 3-4 cars.
Now I do know that auto 2010 dyno's lower and can really wake up with a tune. But stock for stock. it would be close from a dig since the vert weighs more than my coupe. On the big end, the vette should have the legs to get it done.
