Default Vararam installed...

Well, this week has been busy and it just started. I had some new shoes put on (BFG KDWs), lowered the Z on stock bolts, and installed the VARARAM with the Power Duct I picked up from BYNUMSPEED (with a little help from my friends). The install...PITA!

Once completed, I went out for a late night cruise to get some miles on the tires and vararam and after about 45 minutes of highway cruising I got a little spirited and it is NICE. Throttle response is better, smoother acceleration and just a nice feel to the increase in power at highway speeds. I did one low speed launch and the tires feel much better than the 7 year old tires that were on the car when I bought it a couple of weeks ago and overall the car is at PAR now. Loving every minute of it.

Grats! I have done two installs now and after 6 years you'll forget what a PITA it was. Nice thing is it only has to be done once

New to the vette community, come from the Subaru community and with our cars replacing the stock intake is something we usually dont do unless we absolutely have to, after market intakes really mess with our stock tune.

My question for you is, on your vette, when you installed the aftermarket intake did you have to retune your car?

Thanks

Will

No, you don't need to retune the car. Same thing coming from 2v mustangs. The stock airbox/filter was not restrictive. These cars pick up a couple HP with after market intakes.

I picked up just over 1 MPH with the vararam with similar DA's and 60 fts. It's worth it.

I finally overwhelmed the stock tune with the intake manifold and T/B. The car just flowed too much air and sent the computer crazy. Just the vararam and headers never gave me an issue.
