Hey guys, I have been interested in installing the Peripheral PXDP PXHGM4 ipod adapter in my '97 vette, but wanted to get some opinions on it from guys who have installed it. I've read some posts about it not functioning correct with the click wheel control. If anybody could give me any feedback good or bad, that would make my decision easier I would appreciate it. I have the 5th Gen ipod if that makes any difference. Thanks
I have it and it is fine. I had the iPod in the center console like the above pic but like controlling the iPod more than the radio so I ended up getting a clip from Pro Clip and LOVE it! Great quality and easy installation.
Now not only do I control the iPod directly but I also have a readout of song and artist.
Make VERY sure you know which model iPod you have and which adapter works for it. I put one in my Lexus too and it worked fine with my new Nano, but not worth a damn with my older iPod classic. Went back and read the notes on the adapter I got and there it was, doesn't support the classic.
Does it come with pretty good instructions?? I havent taken any of my interior apart yet, but I am very interested in getting one.
if you have a cd changer you need the pxdp/pxhgm2 option that will plug into your changer harness
run cable to console and your done
no changer
pxdp/pxhgm4 option
remove bezel
remove radio
plug into back
put back together and your done
have both options here for you http://www.doubledmods.com/IPOD-IPHO...SORIES_c58.htm
I have a 2004 C5. The install took me under 1 hour to disassemble the dash, pull the radio and climate controls, install the iPod/iPhone conversion by iSimple and reassemble. Works and sounds just fantastic. I would recommend this device to anyone who wishes to use the iPod/iPhone in their vehicle. The only drawback is, if you are not sure how to disassemble your vehicle, no vehicle specific directions were included in the package. Only 7 screws and 4 nuts and you are home free...
Go you use the PXHGM4 option and install to the head unit even if you have the trunk CD changer? I would like to get rid of the changer completely instead of having the cables pass through in the trunk.
I had lousy functionality with an older GEN 3. Use a newer ipod and it should work great--watch for the phantom battery drain, the unit always draws some current unless wired in a certain way (check the audio forum)

I have the factory CD changer in my wife's 2002. It has failed. Looks like I have two options to convert to an Ipod. What would be easier, use the adapter from the CD changer or the adapter that attaches directly to the radio?
Thanks;
Larry

the one to the cd changer harness is real simple. Maybe 5 minute install as you dont have to remove radio bezel.
unplug changer and plug in the new kit run wire to front of car and your ready to listen to some tunes
