Default Electronic cutouts?

Okay guys, here's the deal. I've had the Magnuson supercharger on my '99 C5 for about 5 years now. I just had a race cam installed, Spec Twin Disc clutch, 3.00 pulley, 60lb injectors and replaced a lot of my internals (oil pump, timing chain, balancer bolt, gaskets, etc).

The car is stupid fast now - couldn't be happier with it. But, I want to kick up the sound a bit so it really sounds like it could wake the dead. I'm going for the SLP Loudmouth-type of sound, but I want to be able to control how obnoxious it is. That is, if I'm going on a longer trip, I don't want that mind-numbing drone in my ear and, of course, don't wanna get pulled over and cited for the lack of mufflers.

So, I'm thinking that electronic cutouts might be the way to go, and I have two questions.

#1: Anybody else out there have any other ideas, keeping in mind that I'd ideally want to be able to control the sound, making it ungodly loud at times, but quieter at other times, and:

#2: To those who have cutouts, which ones did you buy, and from where? Do you like them?

Thanks.

Thanks guys - did you order the duals? I suppose those would be required because the exhaust is dual?

You would need 2 of them. They are DEFINITELY worth it IMHO!

I have some QTP cutouts never used (only used for mock up) that I would sell if anyone is interested. They are 2.5 inch. PM me and I'll get pictures for anyone who would like to see them.

I'm guessing you would need to find a welder that can weld titanium if you wanted to get them installed on the stock c5 z06 Ti exhaust?

Most are putting the cutouts before the catback on the mid pipe right before the catback.

You will want to place the cutouts as close as possible to the headers for the loudest and most open header like sound. I don't know how much room there is under a C5.

We are running QTP's on our 69 RS Camaro and our 64 Chevy truck. QTP also makes low profile oval cutouts. Love the sound with them open, but nice and quite on a road trip.

Hey Matt, hope to see you and the car soon. Maybe the weather will cooperate on a Thursday night soon.

Take care, stay in touch. See ya soon.

Go with the QTP cutouts. Call them and they can walk you through the install. I have seen to many DMHs fail and no response from them to fix it.

What size would I need on a c5 z06? I'm guessing it's 2.5"?

Does anybody have any idea what install cost would be?

I think this would be perfect for me. I can still retain the nice mellow exhaust note of my stock Ti for DD purposes, or I can open them up for when I want a nice rumble.

Thanks for any extra feedback you can give. I'm def considering ordering these.

Also, do I "need" a tune for this? I want to get a tune. But, say I installed these and a halltech stinger...could I DD it and get by? I want to send my ecm off to ECS for a tune, but if I installed these would I be safe to get by until I sent the ecm in for a tune and maximize the benefit.

No, you don't absolutely need a tune after an installation of exhaust cutouts. You'd be safe.
