Default Problem with Tire Rack Pt. 2

OK, so my previous thread was locked because I hadn't contacted Tire Rack yet. However, I just got off the phone with TR, and would like to update the situation. (For those that didn't get a chance to read my other thread, here is my post, copied & pasted)

So I ordered 4 wheels & tires from Tire Rack on Tuesday, and they were set to be delivered to my house this afternoon. I chose the option of FREE MOUNTING & BALANCING of the wheels, which I thought was pretty sweet that I wouldn't have to go to a shop and pay them to do it.

Well, I did get something delivered from UPS today, however, it was NOT what I was expecting. Rather than getting 4 wheels & tires MOUNTED already, I instead received 3, yes THREE tires, but no wheels. So at the moment I am short 1 tire, and 4 wheels. Is this common practice for Tire Rack or what? They gave me 4 UPS tracking numbers when I made my order, but so far, there has only been progress shown on 3 of them. The weird thing is, all 3 that were delivered today show a shipping weight of 55 pounds each, which is roughly what the wheel & tire would be together.

So my question is, where the heck are my wheels? And how are my tires going to be mounted now?

Anyone else have problems like this with Tire Rack before?

OK, so here is the update. I just got off the phone with Tire Rack Customer Service (they were very friendly), and long story short, it looks like I got someone else's order! The CSR said she is going to contact UPS and try to track down my order, and if they can find it, they will re-route it to my house on Monday. If they cannot locate it, she said they will just ship me a new set of tires/wheels that are actually mounted this time :P

Hopefully this thread doesn't get locked, as I have contacted TR, and as of now this is just a thread I will continue to update with results from TR as they come to me.

Funny thing is, forum member Carcass suggested in my previous thread that it sounds like someone else received my order. I guess he gets 10 bonus points for being right

Well, it sounds like TireRack is doing proper customer service without issue. Stuff happens from time to time with any business but it sounds like they are taking care of you properly.

TR will be getting my business very shortly. My baby needs a pair of front shoes.

Glad to hear this issue was resolved.

My all of my past dealings with TireRack have been top notch, including any required customer service follow-up.

I have done business with them before and now the Mustang needs new rubber. Tire Rack will get the call.

Default I don't understand

I do not understand why anyone would post about a problem with any seller and say they will never get my business again before they even contact the seller. That is just plain dumb and rude. At least give the seller a chance to make it right before publically blasting them.

Default Tire Rack ?

I'll just add my $0,02, But I've bought I guess four complete sets of wheel and tire from Tire Rack and I've never had a single problem. Being where I live and as close to one of their recmmended installers, I usually never get charged any shipping charges ! I can't think think of using any other tire service. Plus they always know how to put any car on the life without any damage and they know how to install and balance any set of tires and wheels. Great company to do business with.

Tire Rack won't let you down. I ordered a set of 4 GoodYears for the Vette a few weeks ago from Lee at TireRack. Lee's customer support was awsome, and he even took time to share past Corvette stories with me. He's owned lots of them over the years.

I'm sure it was an honest error and you'll have your wheels and tires arrive mounted and balanced in a few days.

Perhaps I'm missing something from the original posting, but I did not see anything about "never get my business again" and do not see why the OP would be labeled "dumb and rude."
I can understand defending a preferred vendor, but EVERYONE should know the facts of the situation before posting such a prejudicial statement (and that goes to you, too, memphis_vette, for doing ).

As I see it, the guy was frustrated (we all understand that feeling!) and was venting - looking for support for his position. He DID contact the seller and they appear to be working with him regarding his expectations (as well as those of fellow Forum members (and customers at large). This is a good thing - and not one that merits any name-calling from someone who elects to jump into the fray before understanding the whole situation.
Just sayin'.

not very intelligent to go off without getting all of the facts. Some folks know how to handle perceived problems and other do not.

Yes, you missed it from the original thread. This was in his second post in the thread:

"This is the 1st time I have ever ordered from TR, and I have to say that I will probably be taking my business elsewhere from now on."

Sounds like good customer service.
Bought my first Falken 452's from Tire Rack back in 07, no problems. Good luck.
