I fixed mine and it wasn't a halo. I've had to cut into one 3 times and another one twice. Both on the drivers side. Most of the repairs were touching up bad solder joints. The last one had 3 toasted LEDs. I took pics one of the times if I can find them I'll post them up.
I thought one of mine went out once and used that as an excuse to buy a different set,
the type with mostly silver inside and a red ring that I had wanted anyway.
when I removed them I found the Lights were fine.
Turned out that the plug connector had corroded over with some green corrosion.
I quick trip to radio shack for some electrical contact cleaner fixed it right up.
Then after that I out some of that nasty grease stuff that you sometimes see in light connections at the advice of a friend and have had no problems since with the new ones.
I now have a spare set or red led tail lights here somewhere.
I am sure the contacts may need cleaned again or even change out the plugs.
I wish I had checked that before buying the other set, but now I have the ones I really wanted anyway.
Plus a spare set to throw on fleabay one of these days when I really need some extra cash.
