Default 36 hours to go...

....until I can legally drive my Vette and test out the new headers!

poor car has been garage-ridden since October. the roads are cleaning up, we've had pretty good weather, a lot of snow has melted... and at Midnight April 1st my seasonal use waiver ends and I can DRIVE!

only flaw in this plan is that the nasty weather reporter on TV says it's supposed to snow tomorrow.

Here she is a few weeks ago, out of the garage for a bit (sorry, iPhone photo, not the best)

and the latest goodies...
LG long tubes, new front air dam, LG tunnel plate, new plugs, wires... Chuck CoW PCM already installed...

the last air dam was still good and functional; just had 7 years of scrape rash and it didn't look so pretty anymore.

Thanks for the compliment on the headers! They've been installed for two months... no test drive yet... THAT takes the patience of a saint, I'll tell you what.

wow that does take patience...btw how does the seasonal waiver thing work? Being in the deep south I can usually tell it's winter by the holiday decorations...but...well you get the idea. Never heard of needing approval to put a car on the streets anytime you want.

Yeah, up in Alaska, we have seasonal waivers for cars that are not operated during the winter. This allows us to not have to screw around with emissions testing. So I can do things like long tube headers without consequence. The waiver states that I cannot operate the vehicle within the Municipality of Anchorage between Nov 1st and March 31st. Most years, there is snow on the ground that whole period so it wasn't an issue for me; plus not having to get emissions tests is pretty sweet.

There are a few guys in our Vette club who don't have waivers; I've seen a few of them out getting their
Vettes dirtier than you can imagine on the soupy, muddy, sloppy roads these past few weeks. I'll poke out carefully on Thursday... I've already identified routes to and from work that no longer have snowmelt running across them during the day. It's a tactical exercise, keeping a Vette clean and dry in Alaska in April.

Congrats on the headers, you are gonna love the way the car sounds. One of the best things I ever did to my car. Helps give you a few extra HP to and torque.

Yup, everything installed! I love winter storage sometimes... I can rip the car apart and leave it for a month, do things out of order, whatever...

I had my PCM tuned by Chuck CoW before the headers even arrived (he did tune them for the headers). Installed that bad boy in December. Headers went in during January sometime. Front air dam in February. (I was lazy after finishing the headers, what can i say). I also had more powder coated brake parts from Mike, so I installed those. I put in an iPod adapter so I can play my tunes over my stock radio. A MadVette insulation kit went in two weeks ago. The paint got fully buffed out, de-swirled, and layered with Zaino and then Souveran. Been a busy winter... and its almost drive time...
