If your car has a "flip tie" modification, you've undoubtedly got a large hole in your shroud that covers the radiator/condenser. You can either buy another shroud (new or used) or use thin black ABS to cover the hole. You'll also need the upper Z06 lid and the two clamping handles that put tension on those straps at the backside (MAF side) of the assembly.
This is what the oem assembly looks like as far as the mounting straps. My upper Z06 lid has been slightly modified, so yours won't look like this...

You should be able to see the curved edge clamping handles in this image on either side of the MAF...

Anybody think water ingestion is a possible concern with this "set-up"???

Hey hotwheels57, first time no one has asked why your air bridge is plugged into the wall.

It not only doesn't look good left exposed in that manner, but the media has obviously been denied regular cleaning/fresh oiling maintenance. If it gets to clogged up, the computer could alter the fuel curve which would result in a change in performance and fuel economy.
It's not the "flip tie" modification where the upper lid is eliminated and the bottom base is flipped upside down over a hole in the shroud. That's the good news because you don't have a hole to deal with.
If you can find another oem Z06 top lid new or used, you can return the assembly back to original. The K&N can be cleaned and oiled as good as new. Or, decide on an after market intake of your choice. Only two after market will produce significant power, the "Honker" and the VARARAM.
The previous owner probably didn't want to deal with removing the assembly and re-doing the zip ties. Don't allow that filter to go that way for long. It could actually harm any power increases, real or imagined.
I originally installed a "Blackwing" and "Ice box cover" on my car. It's one of the more popular after market filters. But, at the altitude where I am, the filter gave me annoying intermittent codes. Only an expensive tune would have eliminated the problem, which I chose not to do. That's when I modified the original Z06/Z16 upper lid as shown. It sounds the same as the "Blackwing", looks almost oem and doesn't cause any codes. Plus it's 110v, but 220v would have been more efficient...
