While I was using a dremel to cut out part of the ash tray area on my radio bezel I was stupid and forgot to tape over the nearby areas and hit it with the dremel chuck which ground a set of 1/8" or so marks into the top of the radio bezel.
So seeking suggestions for filling these and refinishing the area.

Hi Jim....best thing to do (or have done) is recover it. I did mine as part of my interior makeover, and it was a piece of cake, and looks way better...I used alcantara and a glue gun. I could do yours for ya, but I'd have to charge you $50! (Alcantara is expensive). But I think you could use another fabric or leather and get the same results. Here is a pic:
Notice the alcantara on the lower door panels, too....I can help if you want to take the plunge.

Jerry,
Very nice, but I think a bit to expensive for my budget. I was talking about the area that you have in red carbon fiber.
I don't see how one could form leather to the complex curves of the radio surround.
Is it the radio bezel then, that was damaged? That single big piece that surrounds the radio / hvac / shifter?
I would PM c5 bearsfan and see if he is willing to help you. He does a lot of business refinishing those pieces to custom specs for forum members. He might have some suggestions for a quick DIY fix for your situation.

Yup, if it's the radio bezel you are in luck...those can be repaired easily with autobody filler (or some other material that will dry harden), sanded, then repainted...if yours isn't painted now, you will have to switch to the painted look. I have done this to my "back to stock" bezel that was destroyed by UPS on the way to floridasunshine1 for the hydro process. It looks great, just be patient with the material, buid it up in stages if necessary, then prime, sand again if you see defects, and take it all the way to final paint.

If it's not too bad, you can make some filler with acetone and abs shavings, from a piece of abs pipe. Make a slurrey and fill it in. Sanding and new texture may be in order as well.
The Caravaggio is beautiful. But I would need to cash in my kids college fund to do that. And how could I stop with just that one piece ?
I am going to try a small vinyl repair kit that comes with small containers of different colors and several different "grain texture papers". I think the biggest problem will be matching the semi flat finish of the OEM console.
