Default Got my Predator today and...

Found a steal of a deal on a Predator Programmer online so I thought I would see what they are all about. Took about 5 mins to upload there factory high performance tune. I noticed a huge difference in throttle response and more power through out the power band. My car is pretty much stock other than a Varraram intake and Borla exhaust. Fun lil toy with the other little gagents you get in it to. I would not reccomend in for anything more than a lightly modded car as there is no substitue for a personalized dyno tune but for the price I got it at I can play with it and sell it for the same price when I get some LT's and a real tune.

I was confused by the website. Will it let you tune another vehicle? Or is it like the hypertech in that it only tunes one vehicle at a time? I would sell my hypertech for the truck and buy a predator for the truck and Vert, but it didn't seem clear on their website. Any ideas based on what you have seen on yours?

It can only be used on 1 vehicle at a time. Nothing but good things to say about the predator for a mild application and the + that its an OBD2 reader as well.

most programmers do nothing for Z06s but generally add 10-12 for coupes and verts.

Sounds like a good buy for the car. Enjoy that new found performance gain.

The Diablosport Trinity is around $600. bucks though. Does more but at that price I'd just go with EFI Live or something that gives you more control for the money.

On the other hand I like my cheap Predator I got for $185. on fleabay. So far it's been a handy tool and as mentioned it's a code reader resetter which is easier than the DIC.

Got mine from Maryland Speed. Good price (new) and fast shipping. Got it 2 days after I placed the order. GREAT handheld tuner for the money. My car was running 13.0s consistently (Blackwing only) and would NOT go any faster , I then downloaded the tune, went racing the following weekend and immediately pulled off a 12.79 on the first pass. Best ET that day was 12.73 with some wheel spin. This tuner made the car about 3 tenths faster and the car goes sideways on launch. Well worth the money!

I've had my Pred for about 6 months.Bought a used older model for $175.
I installed the perf tune and tuned out the cags,COT and changed the fan settings. After some reads, got my LTFT's to approx 0.I like the diff in perf.I would guess + 10 to 15 hp & tq.

I like it and most everyone will agree that a custom tune is probably the best, but I don't drag/track my 02Z so I'm very happy with it...plus I like the fact I can make changes anytime, like today with the fans.

Good prod at a good price.Look for a guy called "06MonteSS" in the Scan & Tune section. He's a Pred master.

As always,IMO....

The predator is OK for what it does. It will let you change some minor parameters and the canned tunes are also OK. The scan functions in a handheld unit make it very convient (although C5's let you view codes even easier).

Easy, Quick and most importantly Safe. You can't really do anything harmfull with the Diablosport. That's what the predator does. But it's not cheap and it is not that versitile.

If you want to do anything more serious though, you'll need something else. I found the predator far to limiting, and trying to tune with it is by "tricking" tabes, rather than modifying the proper values.

Full tuning suites like HPTuners or EFILive are far, far superior. Also, cheaper overall (on a per car basis). HPTuners, for example, comes with licenses for 4 cars. So the base version will let you tune 4 cars for about $125-$162 per car (depending on standard or Pro model). You can scan as many cars as you want for free, and view the raw data on a laptop. In my example, I have 2 LS1 based cars and buying 2 Predators would be more expesive than 1 copy of HPTuners. Plus I can also do things on my wifes car as well, all with the same package.

The problem with the full suites is that they are not easy. It takes quite a lot of effort to learn how to do everything. And it is very possible to really muck something up.

I wanted something to make changes everytime I did a mod without running to dyno it.

Glad you are happy with your purchase. I agree that MonteSS is a Predator expert and very gracious with his help.
