[Z06] Installed the MGW Shifter today...
After reading many reviews on the MGW shifter and comtemplating whether or not to get it, I finally went ahead and bought the shifter. I currently had the B&M Sport shifter which was good, but was very notchy. So, I ordered it on Monday (very early, actually more like after midnight Sunday), and it arrived at my doorstep on Wednesay...Now that's what I call Fast Shipping!
I opended the package and it had everything...shifter and lever (2 pieces), silicone gasket, four allen wrech bolts, two allen wrenches, and an instructional CD (the black tube of slicone is no longer provided, instead the kit comes with a silicone gasket). The shifter looked very solid, top notch materials and of course, made in the USA (no "Made in China" crap here).
Pretty staightforward as far as installing it:
- Remove shifter **** and boot
- Remove center console
- Remove stock isolation boot (inner boot)
- Unscrew four 10mm bolts and remove old shifter
- After cleaning out the receiver, install new shifter.
- Install everything back in reverse order
(shortened version of installation...plenty more detailed install instructions on the web)
About 1-1/2 to 2 hours to install (could be done in about an hour...I took my time).
After the install, I test drove it.....and the verdict...."IIIIIIIIII LIKE IT!!!"
Throw length was very similar, but smoother. 2nd to 3rd gear was quick. All gears were fairly crisp. 4th to 5th was somewhat stiff (hope it loosens up over time). Overall, better than the previous and felt more solid.
My only complaint...why did I wait so long to get it?
Here are some pics of the install:

This is everything included in the kit.

This is before the install (B&M Sport shifter).

Center console removed and the B&M shifter shown.

With the stock isolation boot removed.

Shifter receiver after cleaning of debris and wiping with rubbing alcohol.

Included silicone gasket installed.

New MGW shifter installed and tightening the 4 bolts with the included T-handle allen wrench.

Cut the stock isolation boot (to fit the MGW shifter).

Isolation boot installed over the MGW shifter.

Completed after center console, shift boot and **** re-installed.

Quality of the unit is excellent and installation simple and straightforward.
Happy overall- but there are compromises.
