So three weeks ago I registered and Insured my 97 C5 and have already put 1000 miles on it. In that short time I fixed the dim Hvac, some seat rocking, and warm AC and now the car is 100 percent. I have had nothing but fun since I bought this car. So much so my DD has only been driven 5 miles or so since the vette has been on the road and everyday I want to drive it more. This car is 13 years old and drives amazing and on top of it everyone thinks its brand new. Almost everyone asks me (a 20 year old) how I can afford such a nice car, no one can believe that I only paid 13k for it. On top of the great style and performance I get 30 MPG!!!! I know all of you guys know everything I am saying already but I just figured I would acknowledge what a great piece of engineering the Corvette is and share my excited feeling with you guys. Lets all be thankful we can each own such a great piece of machinery, see you guys out there. Oh and one last thing, please stop keeping these things stuck in the garage and drive the damn things, unless your trying to keep a few C5's mint for me when I need a new one

I'm 20 years old and on my third C5. Everyone in town thinks I sell drugs And I agree with ya 100%. That feeling will not soon ware off. Everytime I drive my car, I feel like its the first time.
It is a wonderful machine. I like that the general public has no idea what these cars sell for or how old the C5 is. I found out last year by accident and purchased one immediately.
Once you have a Corvette , it seems like you always have to have one .
Welcome aboard . Do you have any pics you can post ? The C5 is one of the best styled Corvettes .
Well said,,,and I fully agree about DRIVING these puppies!!Had mine a bit over 2 years now,,and have put 20K on it,,,and NO regrets!!Just the opposite,,,love'n every minute of it too!! Good news for you,,,the feeling doesn't wear off either,,at least for me!!!Keep on driving and enjoying your baby!!
Ace14,
My story is similar to yours. I bought my 2003 50th Anniversary convertible on March 13 with 11,575 miles. She was a true "garage queen" with emphasis on the word "was". Since I picked her up she has been driven nearly every day, with the only exception being days with bad weather. After twenty-five days of ownership she now has 12825 miles; not bad until you consider that since I'm retired, it's not being driven to work! She's been washed at least a dozen times, has received two coats of Meguiars wax, and has had a bunch of small detail things taken care of (headlight aiming, installation of my XM Roady unit, etc.). Now I'm just going to drive and enjoy her. My friends and neighbors all think she's brand new. You should see the jaws drop when I tell them she's a 2003!
Here's an interesting difference between buying a Corvette in you 50's instead of in your 20's: While people wrongly conclude that someone in their 20's who owns a Corvette must be spoiled or marketing drugs, most of my friends and associates assume that I'm either (a) having a mid-life crisis, or (b) compensating for "something." Wrong on both counts!
Enjoy the car!

People always hate, Most of the time it's the ones not driving a Corvette.
Wether your young or (moderately) aged, it's the love of driving and metallic beauty which attracts us to the Vette.
Enjoy every minute you can!
