Now that sounds neat. I've never heard of them. Any links to any articles or other info?

I'd leave out the targa top (on the coupe) and I'd delete the radio. Would you buy a real boy racer or a cream puff?

No leather, in fact a fiberglass or carbon fiber bucket racing seat, no removable roof ( hardtop ) and no air bags.
It should also come with 3:90 or 4:10 gears..............Oh Yeah!
That was the plan for the FRC/Z06 but they decided against it since putting out a cheap fast Corvette would pull buyers away from all the optioned ones. That is where they make their money. It probably would be impacted the values across all Vettes if the would have released the race car version. Unless they only made them in very limited quanity.

Actually being a kid of the 80's I love all the Gizmos and gadgets. Probably why I still love the digi-dash in my 87 too.

That may be true, but if they use the same concept as Porsche does with their club sport, they would drop all the options and sell for 10-15% more!

I'd delete the crappy radio. I also don't use the auto headlight feature. I like everything else. I particularly like the HUD.

I guess the only thing I'd absolutely prefer that is "less" content would be manual cloth seats -- more grippy, comfortable, and lighter. I could live without the 12 CD changer as well. And, while we're at it, non-pop-up headlights would be a welcome change. With a DD you really need AC and a radio. I bet the power windows (which eliminate annoying handles) don't add too much weight. Same with HUD -- don't need it, but how much weight does it add?

Funny -- I now have the manual in my C5 but had automatic in my C4. I really miss it! Now here's the thing -- does the automatic climate control add any weight???

Your totally right. I actually remember reading somewhere that if GM wanted to offer manual windows for the race car vette it would cost the buyer more money. Strange but true.

Not that strange when you figure how cheap the electric motors are if you source 10's of thousands of them -- and how pricy the manual cranks would be. You would need engineering, manufacturing, etc. all set up for a very small number of cars so optioned. There's another case where I wonder what the weight savings would be. Probably less than a set of floor mats

Let's see...my first car had no A/C, no power steering, no power brakes, no power windows and only an AM radio.

At age 16 that felt perfectly normal.

Now, over three decades later, I want 'em all.
