I've seen several C5 Corvette videos over the years that show the word "Corvette" lit up in the lower center of the dash where the digital odometer displays at startup. Is this a DIC preferance setting or is it specific to certain year Corvettes? In fact, I think I even saw a similar "Z06" at startup in the same location. I tried everything but I can't seem to find where or how you turn this feature on. I did a search and found nothing so any info would be greatly appreciated. BTW, I have an '01 Z06 if that matters.
Ah maybe that is what happens...I always let the fuel pump do its full prime before actually starting the car. Don't ask why, just always had that habbit.
Turn the key to "ON", but don't start it. It'll say what these guys have mentioned, while the guages go their full sweep.
Turn the key straight from "OFF" to "START" and you will not see any message.
At least, that's what mine does. ('04Z)
That was the trick!! Turn the key to "on" just past accessories and the words "CORVETTE" followed by "BY CHEVROLET" display and then changes to the odometer. Thanks for the info and have a great weekend!!
Hmmm.... Mine always showed "Corvette by Chevrolet" even if I went straight to starting the car.
Maybe it's the speed at which we turn our keys that causes the difference? For example, maybe you turn your key fast enough that it doesn't really register the "ON" position as you go to start, and I turn mine slow enough that it does? I'm thinking that maybe it'll only show "CORVETTE" the 1st time it recognizes the "ON" position. I'm just grasping at straws at this point. Maybe I'll try turning the key faster or slower just to see...
