Default Door Sill Covers

Does anybody have experience with the polished aluminum door sill covers? I am on my second set of the chrome covers which, just like the first set, have started to bubble and peel. Trying to decide whether to buy another set of chromies knowing that they will eventually peel or a set of polished aluminum knowing they scratch very easily. Any input?

Bryan

I'm assuming you are talking about these?
I've had these billet ones on since December and they aren't scratched or marked up at all. Look great still!

Yep, those are the exact ones I have. Both sets held up fine for a year or two and then I started noticing bubbles in the chrome. After a while chrome actually starts peeling.

Hopefully you won't have the same problem. Maybe someone with the polished aluminum version will chime in.

I had the same issues. Moisture gets in under the door and causes the chrome to bubble. I put rejects on it to try and prevent this but I guess it bubbled anyway because it wasn't garaged over the winter. Those things are a pita!

I eventually just went with the clear plastic ones for this exact reason.

I know this is an old posting but I just purchased the billet covers for my '99 coupe. Hopefull the blemishing issues is straightened out by now. I noticed the covers are about an inch longer then the stock black covers. Funny all the catalogs say no need to remove the stock covers but the instructions say to remove them. Can I assume I install the billet covers where the current front covers start and have the inch overhang at the rear? Per the instructions, I will get out the blow dryer and acohol and remove the stock covers. They are starting to peal anyways. Thanks for any help. I placed them on the car. They really look nice on a black Vette.
