Just used my heater yesterday for the first time and it sounds sick with very little flow.
Car has been in my garage for the winter but I put moth ***** under it and near the engine compartment so hopefully no mice.
I can't see any signs of mice or smell anything.
I haven't heard of this being a common problem.
I have a 0 deductible GMPP that will cover it if it is not due to mice.
Any suggestions on what I should look for?
It sounds "sick", is not a very good description of the problem. If it sounds as though something is making a clicking or grinding sound, you sir have diced mouse contained in your squirel cage of blower. Good luck. Not hard to take care of yourself.
My car is a 2000 vert and last summer I replaced my fan blower motor assy and fan blower dual zone resistor control module. Upon removal and inspection of the fan blower motor assy, the amount of rust and deterioration blew me away (no pun intended). The internal motor housing had small flakes of rust chips just crumbling off the sides and the windings were also oxidized. The next step was to bench test the motor by connecting an external 12v power supply, no success motor would not spin. Then put used a volt meter to check continuity, no success open circuit. Conclusion, bad fan motor. The fan blower dual zone resistor control module also had a good amount of visible corrosion but was probably ok. Since I had the passenger seat removed (highly recommended so you have room to maneuver) along with kick panels and various connectors and harnesses moved out of the way I figured it was a good time to replace it also, about $150 from NAPA.
