Default The dreaded "will not start"...

Ok, need your help.

I have had on 3 occasions where my 03 AE would not start. On all three occasions, the electronics worked, but the car wouldnt turn over.

1. Started car, pulled out of garage, washed it, go to put back in garage and would not start. About an hour later it started.

2. Wife went to take it to work one morning and it wouldnt start. When I left for work about an hour later, using my key, not her's, it started.

3. Wife took it to manual car wash, washed it, more or less just a good rinse, went to leave and it would not start. Friend came by, unhooked battery for 15 minutes, would not start. Tried battery again for another 15 minutes, still would not start. About 20 minutes later, it started.

When it happened the first two times, I was convinced it was the key chip was dirty and/or the ignition contacts were dirty. But now with this third time and water was involved again, I am begining to think it is something else. Problem I have is that I am in Kuwait and cant pull any codes. But hopefully someone might have experianced this before and let me know what they did to fix this. Again, each time this happend, the electronics in the car were fine, no check engine, no security light. One detail that could shed light on this is that we have been having the SECURITY light come on at random times. Sometimes it comes on when I start it, sometimes it comes on while driving, just very random. The wife is now scared to death of driving it becasue she doesnt want to get stranded. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like you have an OEM battery. I would get rid of it.

run the codes

Na, isnt the battery. Put a new one in a month or so before I left and hadnt had a problem with it. I am trying to avoid pulling the codes cause I will have to talk my wife through it! LOL!!! But, if we have to then I will.

Default Battery is good, connection is bad

Remove the terminals, clean the car's connectors with brush, use dielectic grease, tighten firmly. Or, drive it to Sears and they'll check the electrical system for you and see if your ignition is faulty.

Talk your wife through what? Just run out there and pull the codes yourself?

I believe it's a security feature. Try using thee fob to lock/unlock a few times then open and close both doors and the trunk/hatch. Then try again.

Hey guys, I am in Kuwait, cant do anything to the car while I am here! I am just trying to get idea's to try when I get back. Or if it is something easy, I can walk her through it.

So why do you think it is the battery? Oh, and I dont have any FOB's, havnt ordered them yet.
