Default Window making grinding noises...

Well, last week my window stopped working all together (driver side). So, I tried opening/closing the door a bunch of times while holding the window down button. Well, that didn't work. So, I figured it was busted. A few days later I tried putting down the window and it worked fine. Random, but I wasn't complaining. So, I figured I was all in the clear...but I think something is going to need repairs. Yesterday I went to put the window down and was making a nasty grinding noise and shuddering a bit. As of today, it doesn't want to go down more than about 4" (while making the noise). Anybody have an idea of what may be wrong?

Thanks

The cable is probably frayed on the window assembly. Take your door panel off and make sure this is the problem. If so, you'll need a new window regulator assembly which will also include the motor. You should be able to find one for $100-$150 hopefully. The install is pretty simple. Here is the great write up I used that TheRadioFlyer wrote http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...rial-pics.html

Had the same problem. Swapped out the window regulator and everything went back to normal

Mine grinds once every 2 months or so. I'm assuming it's because something goes off track or something, I dunno.

You need to replace the regulator assembly. The cable has springs at each end with blue plastic sleeves. The plastic breaks and gets forced down into the cable reel and clicks and grinds. Replace the whole assembly.
