EASY fix
I've been putting off tearing apart my center console for several weeks now. I thought I had to disassemble the console to replace the light bulb in the shift selector portion of my A4. I read on this Forum a few days ago that you can carefully "pry off" the clear plastic section of the gear selector,remove the white plastic piece (careful the red selector tab) and see the #194 bulb directly below. A pair of tweezers or small needle nose pliers will remove and insert the bulbs. Re-assemble and you have a lighted gear selector again!!!! This took me longer to type then it did to actually do the bulb replacement. So, hesitate no longer, $2.25 for a bulb and 2 minutes of labor and WALLA- you can see what gear your A4 is in at night. dougbfresh--magicians say "walla" for magic. To me it was a magic trick not to spend 3 hours disassembling my center console.
