Default Need help w/ diagnostics

Bought my vette new in 01, only 6600 miles on it. Don't get to use it enough. I'm on my 4th battery as it sits alot, as I'm in the Northeast.
Anyway this spring, I start it up, runs fine as allways, but all the dash stuff comes on; reduced engine power, service engine soon, check gauges, service this system, service that system, etc. The gauges dont read, the radio wont come on. I took it to a friends garage, he has a Snap-on analyzer to read codes, it wouldn't "connect" to the cars OBD.
Anybody ever been in this situation?? Thanks, John

Welcome to the Forum!!!!!!!!!

If you bought your Vette new in '01 then you have a C5. This is the C6 section so you need to head over to C5 General where the members there will help you out. Good luck and enjoy the Forums.

Sounds like a dead battery. Check with the C5 forum.

Disconnect the battery for a minute and when you reconnect it make sure the negative has a good connection.

1, you need to keep it on a BATTERY TENDER.
2, You do NOT need a code reader, the car has one built in already via the buttons on the dash. My Old Actron code reader connects to the OBD port OK (I use it to read the I/M codes the dash does not get) so the Snap-on should connect if you have power going to the OBD port.

And you might want to get the battery checked - sounds like it could be bad also. If you don't drive it much, and that's what it sounds like, keep the thing on a Battery Tender - replacing batteries gets to be expensive.

C-5's have parasitic drain on their batteries even when the ignition is off. If you don't use a battery tender, you will kill your batteries, even if you do drive the car a bit. I bought a couple of cheapo's from Wally World, and they work fine, they have float circuitry, so they do not overcharge the battery, about $20-25.00.
