No,I'm actually not handicapped.-our parking lot is for our technicians work vans,and employee parking only,but the city requires us to have 2 of our 15 parking spaces to be handicap spaces.
So I use 1 of them for the Vette,since it's in the shade most of the day.
If we were in the city limits,I'd get ticketed for it,but since it's a private lot, in the "industrial" zone, there's not a problem.
If we do ever have a handicapped visitor (which hasn't happened in the last 15 years),the other spot is always free,and it's right next to the front door.

I am handicapped and one day I forgot to hang my card in the Corvette at work in a private lot in an industrial zone at work.
Suddenly one of my co-workers came to my desk and say's there's a cop out there and he's writing a ticket for your car!
At first I thought he was kidding, but I went to look and sure enough that's what he was doing.
So I went outside to explain that I forgot to hang my permit early in the morning and I showed it to him.
He got really PO'ed and say's I should go ahead and finish this and let you exlpain it to the judge, It's going to take me 1/2 hour of paperwork
to explain why I ripped up this ticket!
He did let me go but with a stern warning to make sure I displayed my permit anytime I parked in any handicapped spot!
BTW, the fines are stiff in Mi. where I was it is a $500.00 fine!
There not there for shade seekers!

Mine threatened to take a couple forklifts out and put it on 24" blocks. Also threatened to hanging it in the air with the crane.
The .gov requiring a business to have handicap parking is a violation of property rights.
He wants to park in the handicap space good for him. It's between him and the business owner. it's not the governments business.
I don't know.....Maybe your co-workers are sending you a subtle message that Handycap parking is reserved for people with actual disabilities. The ADA does not include owning a corvette as a disability! People without a handycap who park in handycap spaces goes up my a$$ sideways !! Do you also park in front of fire hydrants just because it is an open space??
