A sunny brisk morning turned into a sunny 70 degree day!! Our Corvette club held their first annual economy run. Course covered about 85 miles of mostly 2 lane rural highways and some paved country roads.We were told to run around the speed limit and MOST did,,I know I did!! BEAUTIFUL day for a nice drive ,,it ended up in a nice country winery,,great scenery,,and a dynamite brunch buffet!! To cap it off,,I got second place (won a $20 gas card) in the C5 class,,missing first by less than 1 MPG!!! Got 33.71 MPG driving reasonable speed limit speeds and not doing any really silly mpg tricks!! Maybe next year!! A day like this would be hard to beat with a stick!!! P.S. One of our members with an 09 Z06 got the booby prize for the WORST mileage!!

 

I bet if you had know there was a booby prize you would have driven in 2nd gear the whole time!

 

No,,,but am giving thought of taking my big block shark next year,,a CERTIFIED gas guzzler!! After a sweltering July trip to Bowling Green a few years ago in the Shark,,my wife OK'd finding a newer one for the road!! Thus our 00 FRC!! A/C/Stereo and 30 mpg on the road,,,,,life is good!!

 

Sounds like fun! It rained here Friday, Saturday and Sunday!

Thanks all,,it really was a lot of fun,,2nd place was just a bonus!! In the mid-west,(and points north) spring is a beautiful time of year when nature puts on her new green coat! Weather was PERFECT!! The wife had a blast as navigator,,,she said it's one of the FEW TIMES that she could tell me where to go,,,and I HAD TO ACTUALLY LISTEN and do what I was told!! Fresh Micheline Pilot sport ZP's,, good brakes and a car with great handling REALLY came in handy when a left turn junction ALMOST caught us by surprise!! These babies DO corner WELL!!!
