After trying most decals I finally decided painting was the best way to go.After doing my lower rear fascia last summer and it turning out pretty well.I decided I was brave enough to do the letters,
I followed the DIY that I have seen on here. That consists of taping the outside border and just painting the whole thing and taking a paper towel dampened with mineral spirits, and wrapping it around a piece of wood. Then rubbing it across so that it wipes off the excess from the raised part but doesn't touch the paint that is down in the letters. And I must say it worked perfectly.
Do you have to sand the letters at all to ensure that the paint sticks?
I didn't actually sand, but I did try to "scruff" it up with a small piece of emery cloth but it was real hard to get down in there and I obviously didn't wanna scuff anywhere except down inside the letters so not sure how much good I did, guess time will tell. But if I have to touch it up once a yr it's no biggie I could actually do this again in about 20 minutes. My lower fascia is holding up great after a yr so I have to give a thumbs up to the Krylon Fusion paint.
You were just North of me. I lived in Hot Springs.
Yeah H.S is a great town we love going down there on the bike or in the car, great crusing and people watching down there. They had a pretty good vette weekend this past weekend
DANG! That looks GREAT! I've been wanting to do mine too. Seeing yours makes me think I can do it myself. TFS
Trust me you can do this, heck I can't even paint a fence. It was really easy just make sure u dampen the paper towel and don't get it so wet that the thinner runs inside the letters.Just do a search someone did a awesome write up with step by step pictures,I seen it back last yr but just now got around to doing it.
