I recently bought a 2002 and the instrument lights don't work. Everything else works fine. The guy I bought the car from had new gauge faces put in the car and he said he had trouble with the lights several times after that and the last time they quit he decided not to repair them and just use the HUD at night. I tried to take the cluster out today and see if I could find something obvious but I never could figure out how to get the cluster over the steering wheel. Any suggestions or am I better off going to the dealer?
There are two types of lights in the insturment cluster, the flourecent lights illuminate the gauge faces and the incandecne bulbs illuminate the DIC buttons, and indiactor lights in the dash.
If the floureceent lights are out, this means you will most likely need a new power supply. Swapping it out is relatively easy one you remove the cluster.
The individual bulbs are also easy, but a little more difficult to locate.
