So ill be taking my 01 z06 to the strip for the first time, since i got it two months ago, this wednesday. I havent played with it a ton but, launching this thing seems to suck. It either wheel hops like crazy then bogs, or blows the tires off.
Anyone got a good method of launching this thing, without slipping the ***** off of the clutch?

Save your self time & aggravation. Don't even bother taking it to the strip until you get a seperate set of wheels/drag radials to use for this purpose. In the mean time do some research in regards to launching the C/5 from the line. Research Ranger's posts in this regards. Good luck.

Launching on stock tires isn't especially easy, but with a lot of practice it can be done. I'm still running F1 supercars in the rear and I can launch very good with no wheel spin, and limited chirping during shifts. I learned how to control the car with hours of practice, and the post above. It's the best launching techniques editorial I've ever read. I even made note cards and put them in my car so when I got the chance, I could make sure I was doing it right.
Make sure you're in "competitive driving" mode. That will allow the car to spin the tires, while controlled and doesn't make the car bog or wheel hop at all. Competitive driving is pretty much the key as far as I'm concerned. The other part is making sure you don't apply too much throttle too fast, and nailing the shift points. My first time drag racing the car I was spinning 1st, 2nd, and part of 3rd. With practice, you can avoid that though.
